ELLIOTT, NINIAN A one-time member of the Remove who left to join his uncle in Canada [M 539].

EMPIRE LIBRARY, THE [1910 onwards] A halfpenny paper, first published on Wednesday 16 February 1910, that featured stories of Gordon Gay and Co. of Rylecombe Grammar School by Prosper Howard. Rylecombe had already featured in the Gem, and maintained a friendly rivalry with St. Jim’s, with the Grammarians under the leadership of Frank Monk; but it was Gay’s arrival that set a spark to the rivalry. Part of the first story, “Gordon Gay’s Company”, was printed in Magnet 106 to entice Magnet readers to buy the new paper.

ESMOND, PERCY A one-time member of the Remove who left [M 316].

EUREKA BAZAAR COMPANY LTD. A company specialising in selling shoddy goods on a commission basis. Alonzo Todd and Fish bought a box full to sell at Greyfriars, but met with little success, and the bulk of the goods had to be returned. [M 618 by FGC cf. Pro Bono Publico Wholesale Co. in M 1306].
