Mascot Schoolboy & Schoolgirl Series (c.1946)

Mandeville publications

Merlin books

This was a small format 20 page booklet from the 1940s published by John Matthew. The Schoolboy series featured stories of Bob Hood & Co. at Topham School, and the Schoolgirl series featured stories of Pam Duncan & Co. at St. Olive’s school.

They cost 4½ d each and were probably published late 1946 and early 1947, prior to Charles Hamilton gaining permission from the Amalgamated Press to write about Greyfriars, Rookwood and St. Jim’s in 1947.

You can read No. 4 of the Schoolboy series here; and the rest of the Schoolboy series and one of the Schoolgirl series on the Friardale site in the story papers section.
